Crash with 1 Trapped in Womelsdorf
2008-07-05 - This afternoon, the rescue assignement was dispatched consisting of the WVFC, Newmanstown Engine/Rescue 34, and Keystone of Myerstown's Rescue 31 for a vehicle accident with possible entrapment at the intersection of Routes 419 & 422.

As Deputy 47 (G.Zerbe) signed on the air, the dispatcher advised of a 2 vehicle accident and PD was on scene confirming 1 subject trapped in a vehicle that struck a building.

Upon Deputy and Engine 47's arrival, they found a Ford Mustang that struck the entrance of the M&T Bank with the driver's side of the vehicle. Crews began to use cribbing to stabilize the vehicle and also pulled a protection handline.

Upon the arrival of Engine/Rescue 34, crews from 34 and 47 removed the roof of the vehicle and popped open the passenger side door to gain access to the patient. The crew from Rescue 31 assisted with removing the patient from the vehicle to awaiting EMS personnel who then transported the subject to the Reading Hospital with minor injuries.

Crews from 47 then cleaned up debris and controlled fluids from the second vehicle involved. Police determined the crash occurred after the driver of the vehicle was attempting to negotiate turning from Route 422 west to Route 419 north and inadvertently hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

2008 Fund Drive is in the Mail
2008-07-01 - The Womelsdorf Volunteer Fire Company has begun to mail it's 2008 Fund Drive mailing to all residents and business owners in our primary response districts in Womelsdorf Borough and Heidelberg Township.

This mailer goes out annually to help support the fire company's operating expenses including apparatus payments and maintenance costs, utilites, and equipment and station maintenance.

We continue to operate as a 100% volunteer fire company with over 40 dedicated volunteers who respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in your time of need. While you rely on us to be there at a moments notice when you are suffering an emergency, whether it be a fire, vehicle accident, fire or carbon monoxide alarm, or to pump a basement, our fire company relies on your financial contributions to enable us to provide these services to you.

If you do not receive this fund drive in the mail, please contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in contributing. The direct phone number to the fire house is 610-589-4645 or e-mail us at info@womelsdorffire.com

Do you need a pool filled? If so, let the fire company do it.
2008-07-01 - The Womelsdorf Volunteer Fire Company is again filling pools. A load of water equals 2500 gallons. Residents in Womelsdorf Borough are asked for a minimum donation of $50.00 per load. Residents in any other municipalities are asked for a minimum donation of $75.00 a load. This is a great way to help your local fire company raise much needing funding and at the same time we can help cool you down for the summer. To schedule a pool fill, you can call the firehouse at 610-589-4645 and leave your name and phone number stating you would like a pool filled and a member will call you back.
