On Saturday, March 22 members and their significant others gathered for our 25th annual recognition banquet. This event allows us to take the opportunity to celebrate our volunteers, their hard work and accomplishments from the previous year.
This year it was again held at the Country Fare Restaurant in Myerstown. And as it has happened numerous times in the past, the start of the banquet was delayed due to an emergency call for a working brush fire in Heidelberg Twp.
Everyone was treated to an excellent buffet-style meal, followed by a year-end video created by our photographer David Kurtz showing highlights from 2024.
The company finished with 399 runs in 2024, the highest in our history and the top 10 responders were recognized:
Assistant Chief Merle Hurst (261), Lieutenant Lamar Hurst (249), Chief Engineer Dale Hurst (248), Junior Firefighter Jeffrey Eshbach (188), Fire Police Captain Dayland Berkihiser (155), Firefighter Mike McKeone (154), Captain Justin Kocher (151), Firefighter Mark Huber (144), Fire Chief Robert Martin (143) and Fire Police Lieutenant Paul Krick (136).
An annual Member of the Year award is voted amongst all the members and this year it went to Assistant Chief Merle Hurst.
As a token of appreciation, members were given a new fire company hooded sweatshirt.
Thanks to everyone who made the event a success! |
