During our weekly Tuesday night training at 2050 hours, the WVFC, mutual-aid and Western Berks EMS were dispatched to the 400 BLK of S. 3rd St./Rt.419 in the area of the bridge in Heidelberg Twp. for a vehicle accident with entrapment, vehicle on it's roof.

Engine 47 arrived to confirm the report finding a pick-up truck on it's roof with a single occupant trapped. The engine crew began vehicle stabilization, patient care, stretched a precautionary line and began door removal with our combi-tool. Once Rescue 34 arrived on scene they completed stabilization and assisted with the removal of the door with their rescue tools so the patient could be extricated. Extrication was complete in 10 minutes and Rescue 31 was recalled. Engine 26's crew assisted with patient care and EMS transported the driver to a local hospital.

The crash is under investigation by the South Heidelberg Twp. PD.
