On Friday, March 15 just after 7pm the WVFC and Rescue 18 from the Western Berks FD were dispatched to assist the Robesonia FC on Furnace Rd. south of Hill Rd. in Heidelberg Twp. for a vehicle accident with entrapment, car into a utility pole. Fire Commissioner 18 arrived on scene confirming the report with the driver self-extricated but the passenger was trapped and a utility pole with guide wires handing over the roadway, requesting PP&L to the scene.

Engine and Attack 47 made the response and upon arrival volunteers from all companies stabilized the vehicle and utilized multiple hydraulic rescue and hand tools to extricate the subject. Both subjects were transported by Western Berks EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

Fire police closed the roadway until PP&L cleared the pole from roadway and the vehicle was removed by the tow company. All units were cleared by 930pm. South Heidelberg Twp. PD is handing the crash investigation.
